Mental Health Services

Evaluate • Diagnose • Treat

Children with additional needs or disabilities often face unique challenges that can impact their mental health. At Aspire, we offer specialized mental health evaluation and treatment services - including comprehensive autism and ADHD diagnostic evaluations - to help these children develop skills to navigate their specific needs.

Our professionals are trained to work with children, providing personalized and compassionate care to help them address a range of mental health concerns.

Comprehensive Autism Diagnostic Evaluations

A comprehensive autism diagnostic evaluation typically involves a team of Aspire professionals. This may include a psychologist, occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist, or other professionals.

Together, the team will review and integrate the findings from their evaluations to determine whether the child meets the diagnostic criteria for autism spectrum disorder.

This comprehensive approach will provide an accurate and nuanced understanding of the child's strengths and needs, and will inform individualized treatment planning.

Parents will receive a compiled report with complete evaluation findings and recommendations in a follow-up consultation with member(s) the team.

Here’s what you can expect during a comprehensive autism evaluation at Aspire:

  • Initial meeting with parents/caregivers (90 minutes)

  • Psychological testing (2-3 hours)

  • Speech, language, fine motor, and sensory assessment (2 hours)

  • Gross motor screening (15 minutes)

  • Comprehensive report

  • Family conference

You might interact with the following specialists:

  • Psychologist: The psychologist will conduct standardized testing to evaluate the child's cognitive abilities, social functioning, and behavior. They will also review the child's developmental history and assess for other conditions that may co-occur with autism.

  • Occupational therapist: The occupational therapist will assess the child's sensory processing, motor skills, and adaptive behaviors. They will also evaluate the child's ability to perform daily living tasks - such as dressing and eating - and provide recommendations for improving functional skills.

  • Speech-language pathologist: The speech-language pathologist will assess the child's communication skills including language development, speech sound production, and social communication. They will also evaluate the child's ability to understand and use nonverbal communication such as gestures and facial expressions.

Mental Health Services

Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, complex medical needs, behavioral concerns, or other challenges, our team is here to provide the support and resources they need to thrive.

Caring for children with additional needs or disabilities can be a rewarding experience; however, parents often face unique stressors that can take a toll on their own mental health. These stressors may include managing complex medical needs, navigating the education system, dealing with financial strain, and coping with social isolation. Seeking mental health services can be an important step in supporting parents' emotional well-being and helping them build resilience in the face of these challenges.

Aspire’s mental health services are specifically tailored to meet the needs of children and parents, providing a safe and supportive environment to address their concerns and develop strategies for coping with stress.

My son and I have been treated excellently. They explained everything to me and made sure we had an understanding of what was going on.

This was the third neuropsychological evaluation we’ve been through in about 4 years. Aspire’s evaluator was VERY thorough, took many factors into consideration, and worked with a team of professionals to complete the evaluation. During one of the appointments, I talked to several staff in the waiting room. I felt warmth and care from all of them even though they don’t know me or my child. Overall, I felt respected and understood during this evaluation process and that is essential during a time that can be extremely sensitive for parents.
